1923-2023: 100 years, 493 movies as of this writing. A legacy that shines as bright as Evangeline, an origin story better than any superhero’s, the desire to create enticing people more than Ratatouille.
What a time to be alive and what stories we have been gifted with.
As much as Disney is a corporate overlord and terrifies me with its widespread tentacles into every aspect of the entertainment industry, they make some good shit. The stories, the happiness, the lives they have touched simply by existing.
There have been amazing, history changing stories.
There have been disappointing, uncharacteristically pathetic stories.
Between the two extremes is where majority of their content lives, but that’s kind of the great thing about Disney’s legacy: there’s the good, there’s the bad, and there’s the original.
There’s a lil’ summin’ summin’ for everybody and not many brands have that kind of notoriety and household fame.
This is also, on a much smaller scale, my 100th post in almost two years on this platform and I thought that was worth celebrating with y’all :)
Did I think I’d make it this far with this newsletter? Honestly no. There are weeks where I forget to post or I don’t want to or I feel dried up and unable to write a sensible line or turn of phrase. And then I feel guilty about it because I want to say things, but I don’t want to have to say them.
Words are hard and when you’re an introverted writer and use this medium to express yourself, sometimes doing that takes a lot out of you.
But look at us.
The big triple digits. What an adventure. What a journey. Here’s to 100 more. And maybe a little more after that as well~
Who knows? Not me.
Not me at all, but thank you for being here :)
Congrats on making it to 2 years and 100 posts. Happy for you.
