While I appreciate the desire to be creatively new and interesting, I don't think it's limited to just someone who doesn't have to worry about money. People can make stuff for economic reasons and be creatively new.
Not that money is the only way, it is absolutely the easiest way, especially with the humdrum of modern society. I truly believe art will exist and continue to thrive in spite of financial difficulties, but innovation (in art, economics, technology) is often through hardships and the beckon of patrons to allow this creativity to flow.
